Gulab Jamun Recipe

Ingredients:

Here are the classic recipe ingredients for making delicious Gulab Jamun at home.

  • 1 ½ cup milk powder or store-bought pre-mixes.

  • ½ cup pancake mix

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 cups of Sugar

  • 2 cups of water

  • ½ teaspoon crushed cardamom powder

  • ¼ teaspoon rose water

  • ¼ cup melted Ghee or unsalted butter.

  • 4-5 tablespoons of milk

  • ½ KG of Ghee/oil for deep frying

  • smashed Pistas

Step-to-Step process

First prepare the Sugar Syrup and Keep it on a side to cool it down.

On a medium-low flame, heat the 2 cups of the water in a pan. Wait until it starts boiling then add Sugar to the boing water and stir till sugar solution becomes thick and slightly sticky. It should not reach one string consistency.Turn off the stove and Keep the Sugar Syrup aside.

Make Dough and Round Jamuns

  1. Measure 1 ½ cup milk powder, ½ cup pancake mix and a large pinch of Soda into a bowl (Note: Don't use too much of soda then the balls may break).

  2. Then Mix them up very well. Make Sure the Mixture is Uniform.

  3. Then Add a ¼ cup of ghee/unsalted butter and Then everything Mix it well together.

  4. Add 4-5 tablespoons of milk to it and mix both together.

  5. If the dough is too dry add little more milk.

  6. The dough turns slightly sticky and refuses to leave fingers. Grease your fingers with Ghee/butter and make a stiff yet soft dough.

  7. Divide the dough into small and equal portions and make smooth round balls without any lines or cracks on them. Do not Kneed or press the balls. Be gentle in handling.

  8. Make sure your sugar syrup is above warm. If it is not heat it up until it's reached little hot but not too hot.

  9. Then pour ghee or oil into a hot pan and heat it on the medium hot flame and not too hot else the gulab jamun will be brown without cooking inside.

  10. To check the correct temperature, add a small piece of the dough to the oil. The ball must rise slowly without changing its color much. so, this is the right temperature.

  11. Add the balls gently and fry them on a medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes until it turns into golden color.

  12. Don't put lot of them together because while frying they increase in size, so provide them enough space in the pan.

  13. When it turns Golden color take them off from the frying pan using a strainer and drain them well.

  14. Add them directly to the hot Sugar syrup. Please make sure not to dump them with oil dripping.

  15. Nicely garnish them with chopped pistachios and soak them in sugar syrup for atleast for 3 hours.

  16. Serve them in bowl and Enjoy your Happy Meal
